About Us

Erkki Pöytäniemi and Marja Nuora founded Kurmakka - Organic Food Ltd back in 1995. Erkki has been involved in the organic movement and industry since c 1980 and Marja Nuora since the late 1980's. Over time Erkki was increasingly involved in the export of organic products from Finland. The Organic Food Finland Export Group was founded in 2004 together with Finpro and with Erkki as the initiator. Lhassan El Farkoussi joined us in 2006.

The Napapiiri Organics brand is special in that it is a joint brand for several companies. Therefore it is not contract manufacturing but involves a deeper commitment from the manufacturing companies in the brand and quality of the products. Therefore you can put your trust in Napapiiri Organics products and their integrity.

Maustaja Ltd, located in the center of Finland in Pyhäntä - some 500 km North from Helsinki, produces the Napapiiri Organics preserves, which were the first products that were launched under the brand.

Kiantama Ltd is specialised in wild berries and is located in Suomussalmi, 660 km north from Helsinki. Kiantama produces the dried wild berries under the Napapiiri Organics brand.

Helsinki Mills Ltd is the leading organic milling company in Finland with milling operations in Järvenpää in South Finland and Vaasa on the west coast of Finland. Helsinki Mills will produce the berry flavoured porridges in the Napapiiri Organics range.
